10/02/16, Sunday: Blanco, NM to Taos, NM

Today we headed off to Taos, and as we approached the city of Dulce, we got our first taste of fall colors in the Carson National Forest. But this lovely scenery was soon replaced by spectacular views beginning in the area of Tierra Amarilla. There was an abundance of all colors, including red, orange, and salmon, as well as hundreds and hundreds of aspens, whose bright yellow leaves were breathtaking when the sun peaked out from behind the clouds and shone through them. And scattered throughout the aspens were deep green pines, and all of this was set against a deep blue sky with dramatic gray and white clouds. Our photos just don't do it justice. This spectacle was really one of those, "Guess you had to be there" sights.
